Our FAQ page contains answers to a lot of different questions that we are often asked about the garage door systems we repair and install. If you want to see how our experts answered them, then you can check them out below.
Are garage awnings more energy efficient?
Specialists recommend awnings as a measure to help reduce your energy bill. They help to conserve energy by reducing the indoor temperature while providing window shade.
What should I do before painting my door?
Cover your garage door tracks to protect them. It's also a good idea to pick varnishes that are free of chemicals. Start by cleaning the door well and letting it dry. Peel off old paint with sandpaper, then apply a primer and cover with paint. Make sure whatever type of paint you choose is suitable for external use and recommended by the manufacturer.
What is R-value and is it important?
R-value is a measurement of your garage door’s thermal efficiency, or how well your door is insulated. Insulation is an important factor to consider when it comes to buying a garage door. If you have a room directly above your garage, then opting for a door with a higher R-value is advisable for extra sound proofing.
What kind of maintenance does my garage door need?
We suggest applying lubrication to the moving parts of your garage door like the cables, springs, the rollers and the track. If not lubricated, these parts can start to make a lot of noise when in use and be more susceptible to rust and corrosion. Regular lubrication will lengthen the life of each of these parts.
